HARD TO BEAT

Keighley Cheered at Featherstone.

Although Keighley lost by four points at Featherstone they showed up well, and on their ground will be a very hard nut to crack. The Rovers had nothing to spare, and Keighley, although six points down early in the first half, never gave up trying, and attacked strongly just before the game ended.  One of their tries was an especially good one, for Pearson ran right through the whole of the Featherstone defence, and scored under the posts.

Featherstone again got off the mark well in the second-half, and Haigh scored the best try of the match, after excellent play by Hirst and Kinsey. Now six points down again Keighley went all out, but the great advantage they held in securing possession from the pack was neutralised by the better speed of the Featherstone forwards in the loose. The losers, however, died fighting gamely, and the crowd was loud in its praise for a vastly improved side.
