TALL SCORE BY BARROW

The changes made in the back division of the Barrow team proved fruitful both at Warrington on Saturday and against Featherstone Rovers on Boxing Day. There was a crowd some 5,000 spectators yesterday at Little Park, Roose to welcome Featherstone Rovers, who had imposed defeats upon Wakefield Trinity and Hull Kingston Rovers on successive Saturdays. The visitors had three changes, but they were completely outclassed in scoring power. Kirkham got one really fine try for them in the first half, but it was their only success. Barrow scored tries through Gifford, Wallace (2), Spencer (2), Gunning, Newman, Burgess, and Doyle. Gifford improved one, Wallace one, Burgess one, and Gifford kicked a penalty goal and dropped goal. Ratcliffe, the new stand-off half-back for Barrow, made a fairly good show, whilst the centres, Doyle and Hickton, though not perfect in taking the ball and passing accurately, gave Wallace and Gunning more chances than usual. Burgess, Newman and Gifford were the leading forwards, and the latter contributed 12 points of the 40 registered.
