DEWSBURY’S DOWNFALL

Featherstone Rovers continue to spring surprises on visitors to their ground.  If Dewsbury had been beaten by many more than seven points they could not reasonably have grumbled.  Truth tell, the Dewsbury forwards were quite eclipsed by the magnificent all-round play of the Featherstone pack. Higson and his co-forwards repeatedly swept down the field in a body and turned defence into attack.

A fine penalty goal by Catterall, than whom there was no better back the field, gave Dewsbury the lead. At halftime, however, Featherstone were three points up, Gill having scored try which J.Denton converted. The brilliancy of Catterall, who got through with great try, put the teams level terms. Featherstone, however, soon put the issue beyond doubt, Denton kicking a goal and Higson gaining a well-earned try.

The Featherstone backs to a man, have improved wonderfully, and earnestly supported the glorious work of their forwards.
