FEATHERSTONE’S MISFORTUNES

Featherstone probably would have surmounted the many team-building difficulties with which they were beset for their game with Bramley but for further accidents during the game. At half-time there was no score. In the second half, however, Featherstone had never more than five forwards, and at one time when Morgan was out injured, they had but four. Taylor Johnson had a shoulder put out, and Haigh had to be withdrawn from the pack and play wing.

As was only to be expected, Bramley’s fine pack, every man of whom played well, controlled most of the scrums, and but for the magnificent Featherstone defence the Barley Mow men would have scored more than once.

Despite their weakened pack, the Rovers had their full share of attacking, but the Bramley defence also was very sound, and not a point was scored in the game. Of the backs Seymour, J, Denton, and Hirst (Featherstone), and Townsend, who was substitute for Holland, and Harrison (Bramley) were often conspicuous.
