BRADFORD FAIL AT FEATHERSTONE

The counter attraction at Wakefield, where Leeds were the visitors, materially affected Featherstone Rovers' gate in their match with Bradford Northern, and from the highest '"gate" this season, on Friday, the receipts dropped on Saturday to the lowest, namely £86 or £207 less than against Huddersfield.  After Featherstone had taken the lead with try by Haigh which was not converted, the visitors were often dangerous. Their third line men, however, showed a woeful lack of enterprise, except on one occasion, that was when Hyne scored a try. The goal kick failed. Before half-time Featherstone had once more assumed the lead. Securing about ten yards from Bradford's line Hirst left the defence helpless and scored a fine try.  James Denton had no difficulty in adding goal points, and before the interval put the Rovers further ahead with a penalty goal from near the touchline side.

In the first half Featherstone's back play was not very convincing, but they showed much more promise on crossing over.  A brilliant, tricky run by Sidney Denton made the Bradford opposition appear very weak, and when Kirkham received the ball few yards out the try was made. J. Denton failed from a difficult angle. A little later he kicked a penalty goal, and before the close he received from Hirst and scored a try, the goal kick failing.
