NORTHERN WIN BY ONE POINT
Bradford Northern scored a single point victory over Featherstone Rovers at Birch Lane. The visiting team can be accounted somewhat unfortunate that their efforts did not have a more satisfactory ending. They attacked for three parts of the game, but their backs were guilty of faulty handlings. Bradford's success was due to the snapping up of two opportunities provided by this weakness in the opposition, and they held on to their lead not relaxing their defensive efforts.
The result hung in the balance right to the very end. Wynard gave Featherstone the lead with a penalty goal, but Gledhill, dribbling over and scoring an unconverted try, gave it to Bradford. After the interval Pepper followed his colleague's example dribbling over and touching down for second unconverted try. Now four points in arrears Featherstone played hard football, and Kingsbury scored a try for them, but too far out for Wynard to convert. Thus Featherstone were beaten by one point, and Bradford added another to their victories.
