After a hard struggle Hunslet mastered Featherstone in the last twenty minutes of the game at Parkside, before about 9,000 spectators. A try to Rudd to which J.Denton kicked the goal, gave Featherstone an early lead of five points. Crowther reduced this with a try but Guerin failed at goal. Wynard kicked a penalty goal for the Rovers, and they led at the interval by seven points to three.
Hunslet were the superior side in the second half especially in the last twenty minutes. In this period the Featherstone defence was pierced by Young, Newton, and Dawson, and Guerin kicked a couple of goals.
