Alex Goulbourne was a promising young Hull-born winger who spent two seasons at Featherstone Rovers early in his career, trying to break into the Rovers first team under Peter Fox and Steve Martin. Despite showing some nice touches, he managed just five first team games, and then moved to Doncaster where he used his undoubted speed to carve out a useful career. His younger brother Alfie played for Hull KR and Oldham.
