Barry Limb was a stalwart of the A team for most of the 1970s.  A pupil of Pontefract Boys Secondary school he signed for Rovers from the juniors. He made his first team debut in March 1974 when Rovers rested much of the first team in preparation for a forthcoming Challenge Cup semi-final. Demonstrating the strength of the reserves in this era they came very close to defeating a full strength Leeds side backed by enthusiastic support from the terraces. 

Barry played eight seasons at Rovers without ever really getting a regular first team slot but never let the team down when called upon.  His greatest impact was in the A team where for several seasons he was made captain and led from the front, setting the example for younger players.  He was part of the side that won the Yorkshire Senior Competition in 1974 beating Wakefield ‘A’ in closely contested final.

Recognising his qualities the newly formed Carlisle rugby league club signed him from Rovers in 1981 along with Mick Morgan and Graeme Robinson, and former Rovers favourite Jimmy Thompson.
