Carl Briggs came to Featherstone to plug a gap as organiser and tactical kicker after the loss of Jamie Rooney. Already 29, Briggs had spent his career on the fringes of Super League at Sheffield, Halifax and Salford. After time with Gateshead and Dewsbury, Rovers took a punt on his experience. In the eyes of many fans he suffered in comparison to Rooney, but was an intelligent player who could dictate play behind a dominant pack. After a season and a half he lost his place to Max Greseque, and moved on.
