Originally from Mullumbimby, New South Wales, Dane Chisholm started as a teenager at Melbourne Storm, and made his NRL debut in 2011. That year he won international caps for France, qualifying through his mother's heritage. After a spell with Canterbury, he moved to England for more first team rugby, and started at Hull KR. He went on to make his name at Bradford, before being loaned out to Sheffield. He moved to Featherstone in the 2019 season under coach Ryan Carr, and immediately slotted into a pivotal role, racking up 265 in just 21 games. Partnering first Tom Holmes, then Callum McLelland at half-back, Chisholm combined genuine pace and light feet with a good kicking game, and his timely interceptions, often length of the field efforts, were real crowd-pleasers.  He put in some outstanding performances on the way to the Grand final against Toronto.

By 2021, Chisholm had a new half-back partner in Nu Brown, and lost his goal kicking duties to Craig Hall. With Tom Holmes fit again, Chisholm was tried out at full-back, from where he scored a sensational length of the field try against Oldham. However, the side missed his midfield kicking game and, despite hamstring trouble, he re-established himself at half-back. He played and scored in the 1895 Cup final at Wembley, and finished the season with another Grand final appearance in Toulouse. After starting 2022 as first choice half-back, Chisholm’s fall from favour was rapid. Brian McDermott recruited Morgan Smith and Ryley Jacks as halves, and Chisholm was loaned out to London Broncos before signing for Keighley. The following season, with Johnathon Ford out injured, Rovers turned back to Chisholm to help resolve some half-back issues and he was quickly released from Keighley and rejoined Rovers. He played six games in the run in to the 2023 playoffs, but was dropped when Ford regained fitness, and chose to retire at the end of the season.
