Sharlston-based wingman Danny Kirmond burst onto the scene at Featherstone as a powerfully built youngster who had a good turn of pace and knew where the try line was. From Sharlston, he dropped into the first team looking ready-made for rugby league. He had a good season in Tier 3 in 2006, but the following year he ran into a rich vein of form, grabbing 25 tries and finishing the year as the club’s leading try scorer. Inevitably, he attracted the attention of other clubs and moved to Huddersfield for 2008. After four seasons there, now a back-row forward he moved to Wakefield where he was club captain for a number of seasons.
