Ernie Richardson was a former Normanton Rugby club player who was given a trial on the wing in a game against Halifax on 7th April 1923.  He did enough in the game to be signed on but never nailed down a regular first team spot. 

In November 1926, he signed for Bradford Northern but only made a solitary first team appearance and was back to play for Rovers in the last two games of that season.  These were the last of his Rovers career.
