Featherstone born George Barker signed from Rovers Juniors in March 1931. He quickly established himself as a first team regular, and in his first full season his 11 tries made him top try scorer for the season. After playing at Widnes on 23 September 1933 he was detained overnight in Widnes hospital with concussion. He played just four more games after a lengthy lay-off before quitting the game.
