George Goldie was a confident young full-back who made his senior debut at the beginning of the 1924/5 season. He gradually made the number one shirt his own, but as so often happened, the club had to cash in and sell Goldie and he moved on to Leeds in September 1927. After four years at Headingley, he moved to Batley. A local man, Goldie came back to Featherstone more than a decade after leaving, in 1938 and played a few more games before retiring.
