Local prop Herbert Rogerson was signed in March 1927 but had to wait a year for his first team debut, when he stepped up to replace the injured Bert Woolley. When Woolley was sold to Wakefield the following year, Rogerson took his chance and nailed down a front-row spot for himself with some consistent performances. His ninth senior game for Featherstone was the 1928 Yorkshire Cup final. Alongside Ernie Barraclough and Percy Morris, the Featherstone front-row took on a very familiar look at this time. However, an injury in a Christmas Day derby match with Castleford in 1930 set Rogerson back and he only played a handful more games thereafter.
