Carrying the burden as the son of a famous father, Karl, who had served Featherstone Rovers as well as Hull, Halifax and Great Britain, James Harrison came through the ranks at Drighlington ARLFC and Bradford Academy, before signing for Batley as a tall teenage second-rower.  Three solid seasons at Mount Pleasant brought him to the attention of Rovers who signed him up for the 2019 season. James soon carved his own niche as a long-striding, hard to tackle forward, with good off-loading skills and high work-rate. When the 2020 season was abandoned due to Covid, Harrison was briefly loaned to Leeds for top flight experience, where he made a good impression.

Harrison started 2021 in fine form, often used to good effect off the bench, but a broken foot set him back with eight weeks out. On his return, he worked his way back up to full fitness, picked up a Wembley winner’s medal in the 1895 Cup final before a cruel ACL injury finished his season. He signed for Warrington in Super League in 2022.
