Junior Moors had an impressive NRL career with Penrith, Wests and Melbourne before heading to England to play for Castleford in 2015. He played over 100 games for the Tigers in six seasons, but an injury hit final season led to his release, at which point Rovers stepped in. Once he had recovered full fitness, Rovers enjoyed the services of a dangerous and powerful second-rower, whose blockbusting running style and exciting off-loading skills made him a handful for any defence. Disappointingly, he missed both the 1895 Cup final (Covid) and the Grand final (injured) in his first season, but in 2022, Moors stepped up and showed real class in an outstanding season. With tremendous mobility for a big man, he offered go-forward as well as his array of ball-handling skills and a dangerous offload. He operated mostly in the middle, but his fitness levels allowed him to put in long spells, and it came as no surprise that he scooped the club’s Player of the Year award. The start of the 2023 season saw him hampered by a broken thumb, an injury that troubled him throughout the season. He was used more as an impact player off the bench, but offered the side a real lift in terms of go-forward when he came on, and began to show more and more of his 2022 form. Ultimately the season ended in disappointment and after 63 games in three years for Featherstone, Junior Moors retired from playing.
