Making his debut at loose forward in a famous Rovers victory over a powerful Hunslet side on 18 January 1930, Luke Morgan was one of four local brothers who played for Rovers.  Luke gained his chance because of an injury to his brother Joe.  It was, however, the only game Luke played as a loose forward as most of his appearances were either at prop or second row, although he did have a spell hooking in 1933.  In this sense, he turned out to be almost as versatile as Joe. He was a formidable forward who had to be transferred to Dewsbury in October 1934 to ease Rovers' financial plight. His loss was keenly felt however, and it was precisely the lack of forwards of the calibre of Luke Morgan that Featherstone endured their worst seasons in the mid to late 1930s.
