Matt Bramald started his career at Wakefield Redoubt ARLFC and turning professional with Dewsbury in 1995.  After 4 years he signed for Featherstone for the 1999 season mainly as a full-back. Over the next four seasons he played virtually every game, 123 of 132 matches. This included a remarkable run of 98 consecutive games from his debut. He was a dependable full-back and a decent finisher on the wing as his try tallies prove, and never let the side down with his unobtrusive style. When Peter Roe departed as head coach, Matt also moved on. He played firstly  at Batley, followed by Keighley and then Hunslet, where he finished his playing days with a career total of 326 appearances across five clubs and 147 tries.
