Originally from Woodlesford, Norman Tait was possibly a unique signing for Featherstone Rovers in that he didn’t turn professional and only signed amateur forms with the club. His reasons for doing so remain obscure, but nevertheless he played 32 senior games for Rovers, scoring five tries. The majority of those games in his first year, having made his debut on the opening day of the 1922/3 season.
