Peter Muscroft came to Featherstone on a month’s loan from Hull KR towards the end of the 1982/83 season, part of a package with scrum-half Paul Harkin. Ostensibly, Muscroft was there to give first team regulars a rest before their big day at Wembley, but he ended up playing in some important matches which helped Rovers to narrowly avoid relegation that season. A try at Leigh and two tries at Halifax helped Rovers to vital wins that kept the club up.
