Young reserve wingman Steve Minter had a brief, but sensational Featherstone Rovers career. As the team cantered to the Second Division title in 1993, an injury to Owen Simpson left Rovers a man short for the trip to Bramley. Minter lined up outside Paul Newlove. The Great Britain centre scored a hatrick, and laid on another hatrick for debutant Minter in a 52-0 win. The following Sunday Rovers played Bramley again, Newlove scored four tries and Minter one in a 78-0 win. The following week Owen Simpson was fit again and Steve Minter’s Featherstone career came to an end. A couple of years later he played the odd game for, ironically enough, Bramley.
