Local product Alan Dakin was a tough prop forward who, despite only managing 51 games in nine seasons, was the perfect squad man and always to be relied upon when necessary. Having made his way through the juniors and reserves, Alan made his first team debut in 1982, but had to patiently serve the reserve team for long spells to receive occasional first team calls.
