Australian Alan Denson paid his own fare to come to the UK after playing for Terrigal Sharks on the Central Coast in New South Wales.  He was given a trial by Rovers and played a single first team game off the bench away to Fulham at Chiswick Polytechnic but did not convince coach Peter Fox that he was of the right standard.  He then moved onto Bramley where he was more successful.
