Albert Ayre was thrown into his Rovers debut against Keighley during the hectic Easter period. Described as a well-built 19 year old winger from Fitzwilliam, Ayre was on a match to match trial. Despite a decent write up of his performance, he left to join the Navy soon afterwards and never played again.
