Local product Albert Cartwright made his debut on the wing for Featherstone in Rovers’ second season in the seniors. After sporadic appearances in his first three seasons, he established himself as a first team regular in 1925/6, and rewarded the club’s faith in him by ending as leading try scorer that season with 13 tries in 30 matches. The following year, despite injuries, his strike rate was higher, 15 tries in just 18 games, including three hatricks. The following season his lost his place, competition for a first team spot being as strong as it had ever been, but Cartwright continued to serve the club for three further seasons.
