The younger brother of Great Britain international Tommy, Ambrose Askin was a second-row forward who signed for Castleford from Knottingley. After 89 games there, he signed for Keighley. From there he came to Featherstone where his brother had made his name, and played briefly for Rovers before the Second World War. Injuries sustained at Dunkirk put an end to his playing days and he later ran a fish and chip shop at Knottingley.
