Born in Derby but brought up in Hull, Andy Ellis was at the top of his game when he first came to Featherstone on a short term loan from Wakefield. He immediately made an impact with his swift distribution, defensive work and all-action style. His return to Belle Vue saw Rovers’ form dip and so after he came back on a longer contract in 2013 he delivered four seasons of quality rugby to Featherstone. Having started at Hull KR, Ellis spent three years at Barrow, taking them to the Championship title in 2009. He then stepped up to Super League with London, then Wakefield.

At Featherstone, he appeared in the 2014 Grand final and then in the Shield final of 2015. After retiring to concentrate on his teaching career he was persuaded to come back for the 2016 year, after which he spent a couple of seasons with York.
