In the middle of World War Two Arthur Dexter made his Featherstone debut in the front-row against Bramley aged just 17. He gave a good account of himself against a team who had turned up without a hooker and had to borrow Featherstone’s reserve, Jim Bowden. It was two years before Dexter was seen again at first team level, when he filled in at second-row for a couple more war-time fixtures.
