When Rovers were looking to strengthen during the start of the 1967/68 campaign a large number of trialists were tested out in the A team.  One who impressed during these trials was 21 year old stand-off Barry Clixby, formerly with the Ambassadors Club, Hull.  Subsequently, he made a solitary first team appearance off the subs bench in January 1968 in a game at Halifax but his Rovers career did not progress beyond this.
