Utility forward Bill Allinson was signed from Wakefield after the Christmas period in 1946, and made his debut against Hull on New Year’s Day 1947. It was the beginning of a dependable contribution to the Featherstone cause for a committed forward, equally at home in the front-row and second –row. Well regarded by his team-mates he was made club captain for the 1948/49 season. At the end of the year he retired from the game.
