Bill Jackson played with Bagley’s Recs at Knottingley and signed for Featherstone Rovers in the summer of 1939. A player with a good turn of speed, he duly made his debut and kept his place until November. Thereafter his first team appearances were sporadic,  because of his active military service in World War Two.
