Brian Darlington played a couple of games on a month's trial from Hull in 1958.  He had been signed by Hull in January 1956, after gaining international recognition as a sprinter - among his achievements were 1951 R.A.F. 100 yards Champion, when he also represented Great Britain in the European Games in Rome; Inter-Services Champion, 1952; representative of Great Britain in the World Student Games in Germany in 1953.  His fastest time over the 100 yards was 9.8 seconds.  His spell at Featherstone was not as successful and he returned to Hull.
