When Jamie Stokes left Rovers at the end of 2004, Featherstone signed Salford winger Bryn Powell as a replacement. His career had started at Hunslet Boys Club, and signed for his hometown team. Nearly 50 tries in two seasons led him to join Salford in 2004, but he spent most of that year on loan at Batley. As a proven finisher, Powell was just the sort of player Rovers were looking for. He finished second in the Rovers’ try charts in the 2005 season with 11, but at the end of that disappointing season he was one of a number of players who paid the price for Rovers’ relegation and was released. However, six years later in 2011, Daryl Powell brought him back to Post Office Road for a second season. Despite scoring 23 tries in 25 games as Rovers stormed to the Championship title, he was not retained for the following year and retired. He was capped six times by Wales, but missed out on the 2008 World Cup.
