Calvin Hopkins was a robust winger from the Lock Lane club who slotted into the first team at Featherstone comfortably. Two years on the wing from a straight-running wholehearted player who stood for no nonsense from the opposition, Hopkins rapidly became a crowd favourite. Not the fastest of players, his blockbusting style made his top try scorer in the 1984/5 season, albeit with a modest 11 tries. Injuries hampered his progress and after he lost his place, he tried a comeback as a second-row forward. After three years at Featherstone, he moved to Bramley and was fondly remembered by fans for his efforts.
