Born in Mount Albert, New Zealand, stocky wingman Carl Hall first came to England as a teenager on a tour with the Junior Kiwis in 1987. Alongside Tony Kemp, he signed for Doncaster on the back of that tour, helping to build Doncaster’s most successful ever team. He then spent three years with Bradford and a season at Leeds. When rugby union went open in 1996 he tried his luck there, but it was Featherstone Rovers who brought him back to rugby league for the 1998 season. He played a full part in our run to the Grand final, switching to centre for the playoffs. He grabbed a try in our valiant effort to win promotion. After an injury and losing his place, he moved back to rugby union, before re-joining his first love Doncaster in 2000. After retiring, he was involved in a business group who rescued Doncaster from financial difficulties in 2009 and since then has been their chairman and chief executive.
