Signed from Sharlston, 17 year old half-back Charlie Wood was plunged straight into the first team when he filled in at centre for a couple of games in Rover's debut season at the top level.  It was more than two years later before he got another chance, this time in his preferred halfback role, but that was the end of his short Rovers career.
