Chris Chappell was a young winger who was signed from Wakefield amateurs Duke of York during the 1985/86 season after turning from soccer late in life.  He was thrust into first team football after arriving for Rovers at the same time as new head coach George Pieniazek. After a few months at the club he went back to amateur rugby.
