After a career that started at Leigh, Chris Hankinson’s rugby journey took him to Swinton and Barrow before he stepped up to Super league with Wigan. After three seasons there, he dropped back down to the Championship with London, before joining Toulouse for their Super League season in 2022. On arrival at Featherstone, he joined a clan of ex-Olympique players at Post Office Road, including Johnathon Ford, Mark Kheirallah and Gadwin Springer. Hankinson arrived with a reputation as a straight, strong-running centre and an excellent goal kicker., and this was exactly what he provided on an excellent debut. In only his second match he suffered a back injury which kept him out for three months and restricted his goal-kicking thereafter. He still made a committed contribution throughout the rest of 2023, and scored two tries as Rovers disappointingly exited the playoffs at the semi-final stage. After a largescale clearout of players at the end of 2023, Hankinson left to join Salford, the only one of 19 players released who joined a Super League club.
