A native of Hereford, Chris Harding knew little about rugby league until training as a PE master at Carnegie College, Leeds.  Signed from Otley R.U., he got a regular first team opportunity at stand-off in the 1970/71 season when Dave Kellett was seriously injured.  A good all round footballer whose tackling abilities belied his stature, he formed a useful partnership with Terry Hudson, who was deputising for the injured Steve Nash, for a large part of that season.
