Welshman Clive Hill played rugby union for Berkshire while a member of Oxford RUFC before turning to rugby league with York in August 1971.  His centre was often Steve Quinn, who later followed him to Featherstone. Rovers signed Hill in mid season of 1974/5 and he immediately slotted into the first team, scoring a dozen tries in just under a year.  He also played for the "Other Nationalities" team alongside Harold Box in the 1975 county championship, as well as being capped by Wales.
