York-born prop forward Colin Forsyth signed for Oldham as a teenager from Heworth ARLFC. He was still a teenager when he came to Featherstone in 1966, playing in the Yorkshire Cup final within months of his arrival. When Rovers got to the Challenge Cup final that year, Forsyth would have been hopeful of a Wembley appearance, but he was a travelling reserve. At the start of the following season he moved home to York where he spent six seasons. After joining Bradford in 1975, he played the best rugby of his career, selected for England at the 1975 World Cup. Under coach Peter Fox he won Championship, Premiership and Yorkshire Cup medals. After finishing playing, he went back to Heworth where he enjoyed great success as a coach.
