Experienced hooker Colin Maskill served a number of clubs at the top level before arriving at Featherstone late in his career. Having started at Wakefield, he spent almost a decade at Leeds before moving to Castleford. He came to Featherstone in the first summer season and provided direction and stability to a team badly in need of guidance following enforced demotion from the top flight. When Richard Chapman emerged as first choice hooker in 1997, Maskill made way and moved to Doncaster, who he served for three seasons before bringing to an end a lengthy and very creditable career spanning almost 20 years. Twenty years later, Colin’s son Danny made the Featherstone first team.
