Henry Cyril Johnson was the oldest son of Rovers founder George Johnson. In the 1928/29 season, he got a four match run in the Rovers first team having previously played for the reserves. At the time the team was struggling for form after being defeated in the Yorkshire Cup Final. His debut was a 31-0 thrashing at Warrington, and with particularly bad playing conditions all month, Johnson had little chance to shine. He did however grab a try in a derby match v Castleford, but that was to be the highlight of his first team career. Three years later, his younger brother George Jr. had more success.
