Damien Mackie was a New Zealand born centre, who signed for Featherstone in the transitional Centenary season in 1995. At home in Canterbury, he had played for the Christchurch City Shiners in the national Lion Red Cup. He formed part of an enclave of Kiwis at Featherstone that season alongside Simon Angell and Brett Rodger, but all three players were cut due to financial problems at the club. Mackie then moved to Rochdale.
