Pontefract born forward Daniel Smith had three separate loan spells at Featherstone. Firstly, whilst on Wakefield’s books he played a single, try-scoring game on Dual Registration. Five years later, he returned on loan from Huddersfield, playing a further six games and scoring twice. During that spell, he played professionally for the first time alongside his brother Cameron. He returned for the third time in the 2023 season, this time from parent club Castleford. After this third successful loan spell he was signed on permanently, and used his size and bulk well in the middle as part of the starting line up. His ball-handling ability close to the defensive line proved to be a real asset to an already sizeable pack, and it was a great disappointment when the side crashed out of the playoffs at the semi-final stage. As a part of a large-scale restructuring of the squad, Daniel Smith left Rovers for Bradford for the 2024 season.
