Although Dewsbury-born, Featherstone Rovers signed talented second-rower Dave Busfield as a teenager when he turned professional. He made his way in what was a very good Rovers team at the time, and quickly became a valuable squad member. At 21 years old, he came on as a sub in the 1974 Challenge Cup final. Hampered by injury, he managed just ten games in our Championship winning year, and at the end of the following season was sold to Halifax. He later played for Wakefield and Hull before finishing with his hometown team Dewsbury, whom he later coached.
