Dave Williams’ professional rugby career started at Doncaster and petered out after a series of niggling injuries. At the beginning of 1968/9 he signed for Featherstone, made his debut against Castleford, and went on to play 15 games that season. He continued to be troubled by injuries, well worth his place in the team when fully fit, but unable to string together a long run of appearances. Another injury at the start of 1971/2 finished his first team career at Post Office Road.
