Leeds based David Heselwood started his career at his home town club before moving to Barrow for more first team opportunities. The travelling to Cumbria proved arduous, and so he signed for Rovers during the 1985/6 season. A well-built centre, he could handle the physical side of the game, but perhaps without the pace to trouble opposition defences. After a good run in the Rovers first team, a serious knee injury halted his progress from which he never came back.
